Oatmeal with nuts and caramel apples is a great option for a tasty and unusual breakfast made from familiar ingredients. I want to share with you an unusual and very tasty option for making rolled oats for breakfast. Instead of the usual and, frankly, boring porridge that we most often make for breakfast, we will make luxurious caramel oatmeal with an aroma and taste reminiscent of apple pie. As a basis for the dish, we will cook oatmeal porridge in milk and water, add raisins and aromatic spices and decorate it with juicy, tender apple slices, nuts and caramel. Such a delicious treat for breakfast will pleasantly diversify your weekdays and give you a boost of energy and good mood for the whole day. Try it!

Total time: 20 minutes | Cooking time: 10 minutes | Yield: 2 servings
INGREDIENTS
1. Oatmeal - 200 g
2. Milk - 200 ml
3. Water - 200 ml
4. Apples - 2 pcs
5. Raisins - 50 g
6. Nuts - 2 tbsp
7. Butter - 30 g
8. Sugar - 3 tbsp
9. Cinnamon - 1 tsp
10. Salt - 1/2 tsp
Step By Step Cooking Process
STEP 1
Peel 2 medium-sized apples and cut into slices about 0.5-0.7 cm thick (thinner slices tend to lose their shape during cooking). Grate the remaining 1 apple just before cooking the porridge.
STEP 2
Toast the nuts over medium heat for 5 minutes using a dry frying pan, then chop.
STEP 3
Melt butter over medium heat using a frying pan. Put in apple slices and fry them for 2-3 minutes on one side.
STEP 4
Then carefully turn over and fry for another 1 minute on the other side.
STEP 5
Add 0.5 tsp cinnamon and 3 tbsp sugar, carefully spreading the sugar over the surface of the apples in a thin layer.
STEP 6
Shake the pan gently several times to mix the apple juice, melted sugar and butter. Simmer the apple slices over low heat for another 1-2 minutes, then carefully turn them over and fry the mixture over low heat for a few minutes until the melted sugar turns into golden caramel, thickens and large bubbles appear on the surface of the mixture. The main indicator of readiness is the rich orange-gold color of the syrup. Once you notice that the syrup has acquired the desired shade, turn off the heat immediately.
STEP 7
To make oatmeal, measure out 200 g of oatmeal into a saucepan or small pot. Add 1 finely grated apple, 50 g of raisins, a pinch of salt and 0.5 tsp of ground cinnamon.
STEP 8
Pour in 200 ml of water and 200 ml of milk.
STEP 9
Stirring constantly, bring the mixture to a boil and simmer over low heat until the flakes are cooked.
STEP 10
Place a portion of porridge on a plate.
STEP 11
Add a portion of apples and caramel syrup. If the syrup has cooled down or thickened too much by the time of serving, it can be heated over low heat and diluted with a little water if necessary. Garnish each portion of porridge with nuts and serve.
STEP 12
Apple Pie Oatmeal is ready. Enjoy!
